Tonchi solo live
Shimauma unplugged vol-3 will feature 2 live performances by the wonderful Tonchi on steel pan,
a pop-up shop by twinkle, and space installation by Ryo Aoyanagi.

Artist profile:
トンチ
1998年からスティールパンを始め、2ヶ月後に訳も分からず発祥国トリニダードへ。
「上手くなったらチームに入れたるわ」と言われ日本でがんばる。
2003年再びトリニダードへ。
約１年間、インベイダーズというチームに入り活動。
エクソダスのメンバーとカリブの国々でカーニバルの演奏ツアーetcをし、、、
帰国後、ソロ活動・作詞作曲・セッションや、OOIOOや朝崎郁恵さんのレコーディングの手伝いやUAの演奏、クラムボン原田郁子ちゃんとセッションなど。
Tonchi started playing the steel pan in 1998 and decided on a whim to visit the instrument’s birthplace, Trinidad.
She was told by the local musicians that 「if you get better we will let you in the team」and so she continued to practice assiduously when she returned to Japan.
In 2003, Tonchi flew back to Trinidad and became a member of the Invaders Steel Orchestra. She performed with them for a year and has toured around the Caribbean at various carnivals.
Tonchi is now a recording solo artist and has collaborated on recordings and live sessions with the likes of OOIOO, Ikue Asazaki, UA, and Ikuko Harada (clammbon). She has released 2 albums, 「Sumoguri」(2008) and 「Otakara」(2012) which can be purchased here.
